Leading Airline

Leading Airline Improves Business Efficiency with iApply

The Challenge

As a result of its rapid growth, a leading Australian airline had become heavily reliant on manual paper-driven processes, particularly when managing aircraft compliance with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). An internal estimate revealed that the airline’s Parts Maintenance Area alone relied on more than 200 of these processes that were becoming increasingly time consuming and expensive to manage. The airline was seeking an alternative to ensure that these processes were carried out in a timely, accurate and cost effective manner.

The Solution

The airline turned to DWS and asked that one of its most complicated processes, the Part Number Master Authority system, be automated using iApply. DWS replicated the style of the original form, that contained nine sections requiring input from different personnel, and incorporated collapsible sections so that users could quickly move to the section they needed to complete. A dashboard view of all authorities showed the progress of each section: green for completed, yellow for in-progress and red showing an issue requiring attention. As each section was completed an event notification was emailed to the person required to complete the next section.

Key Achievements

The iApply solution has significantly reduced the administration burden associated with the process, freeing up valuable resources and improving business efficiency. The project has shown the flexibility iApply can achieve in a specialised industry and the speed to market ensures the return on investment is realised in a short time frame.

Australian Energy Market Operator

AEMO yields savings through streamlining complex business processes

Energy and Gas regulator AEMO has used DWS iApply technology to automate and streamline the collection of electricity and gas infrastructure details. Delivered in thirty days, the DWS project replaced the organisation’s manual data collection process with a cloud based iApply solution that achieved superior data integrity, faster data collection times and reduced administrative costs.

The Challenge

As the National Energy Market Operator and planner, AEMO plays an important role in supporting the industry to deliver a more integrated, secure, and cost effective national energy supply. The regulator relied on a manual system of data capture for recording electricity and gas infrastructure details that was problematic in terms of data consistency, accuracy, availability and security. Because many versions of the survey form existed, the data reconciliation process was resource intensive and reporting on the data was both complex and time consuming. Stakeholders within the data collection process were disengaged and the system seemed too hard to improve.

AEMO iApply

The Solution

DWS responded with their world leading form automation technology iApply.

The cloud based solution was delivered in just thirty days and replaced the manual data collection process with an online form experience. The automated process was supported by business rules and strict data validation to ensure the completeness and accuracy of every entry.

The solution enabled customised reporting including the ability to carry out ‘what-if’ analysis.

Key Achievements

AEMO has benefited from a dynamic collection form that can now respond to changing business requirements and provides a much faster data collection method. Form version control and the addition of strict business rules have led to enhanced data integrity whilst the simplification of the entire process has reduced the administrative burden and led to improved financial and stakeholder engagement outcomes.

Australian Trade Commission

Austrade Automates Grant Applications with iApply

The Australian Trade Commission – Austrade – is the Australian Government’s trade, investment and education promotion agency. Austrade administers the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme which is a key Australian Government financial assistance program for aspiring and current exporters. The scheme supports a wide range of industry sectors and products, including inbound tourism and the export of intellectual property and know-how outside Australia.

The Challenge

Austrade had managed grant applications through a manual process of paper based forms. To apply for a grant, an exporter needed to download an EMDG application form, complete it and send it back to the agency along with supporting documents. The application process was time consuming and complicated for the applicant and placed a large administrative burden on Austrade.

Austrade

The Solution

DWS were engaged to create the EMDG Web Lodgement Solution, an on-line system for managing grant applications using iApply technology. The fully hosted cloud solution offers 24×7 availability during lodgement periods and has been configured for both an internal and external user base. The solution features iApply’s workflow driven application forms including inbuilt business rules and lodgement receipt. WCAG 2.0 AA compliant, the Web Lodgement Solution also incorporates the Federal Government’s AUSkey authentication system.

Key Achievements

The Web Lodgement Solution provides a safe, accurate and streamlined system to manage and assess grant applications that is leading to improved accuracy and processing times. The benefits to Austrade have been improved data capture as well as enhanced integration with internal systems without the need for duplicative and manual data entry.
